"Rosey" looks to be the big man the Pioneers will need this
season. He joins the Denver squad after a highly successful
high school career and one year at Pensacola, Fla., Junior
College.
He attended North Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte
where' he was coached by Everett Pigg. He earned the
school's most valuable player award as a senior and blocked
nine shots in one game to set a new school record.
Rosey was also honored as the school's athlete of the
month during his senior season. He averaged 15 points and
15 rebounds per game during his prep career, but defense
looks to be Rosey's strongest area. He has always been a
strong shot blocker.
At Pensacola, Rosey averaged over 10 rebounds and 14
points per game, but again it was his shot blocking and defensive
ability that played a big part in helping the Pensacola
squad to the state playoffs.
He is an outstanding shooter from the floor, hitting 60 per
cent of his shots during high school and tossing in 53 per cent
of his shots in junior college. He will have three years of
eligibility with the Pioneers as he attended only one year of
junior college.
He enjoys woodworking in his spare time. He works mainly
with furniture, tables and chairs. He also enjoys working with
youngsters and he taught basketball to 9 to 16 year olds at
the YMCA one year.
He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A.B. Bankhead of Charlotte,
N.C.
