All used Der Besuch der alten Dame as their main text, butunfortunately, had no supplementary material to support their arguments.<strong>GCE</strong> Ordinary <strong>Level</strong>Paper 3025/01WritingGeneral commentsThis paper produced a good range of marks and proved a challenging test for the best candidates, as well asaccommodating the weakest. The top candidates provided an exceptionally high standard of German,writing with accuracy, fluency and imagination. The weaker candidates were able to complete all thequestions, finding sufficient material to produce the required number of words.Comments on specific questionsQuestion 1The vast majority of candidates attempted this question and coped well with the demands of vocabulary andstructure. Pictures 3 and 4 presented the major difficulties with vocabulary and verb tenses, but mostcandidates improvised well.Question 2Few candidates opted for this question, those that did chose option (a). All candidates were able to findsufficient material for the required number of words and generally produced a good range of vocabulary andidiom.Question 3This question was attempted by the vast majority of candidates, who coped well with the vocabulary andgrammatical demands.
