Programs / 0123EMBA ProgramProgram ProfileThe EMBA Program of Tsinghua University pursues the mission of “cultivate businessleaders to shape the future of Chinese enterprises” and combines cutting-edgemanagement theories with Chinese conditions with a view to training high-levelmanagement talents that are innovative and competitive in the global arena.Since its inception, The Tsinghua EMBA Program has trained more than 1500 students,the most among EMBA programs in China. Our EMBA students mainly include executivesfrom leading state owned enterprises, domestic private businesses and multinationalcorporations. 84% of our EMBA students are above the vice general manager level and58% of the entire student body are presidents or general managers. Most of our studentsare from enterprises worth over RMB1 billion. We continue to enroll 300 EMBA studentsevery year while preserving the quality.HistoryIn September 2002, Tsinghua SEM became one of the first institutions of higher learningin China to offer EMBA degree education.In 2003, the Tsinghua EMBA Program became a full member of the Global EMBA Council.In 2004, the Tsinghua EMBA Program hosted the Asia & Pacific Regional Meeting of theGlobal EMBA Council.In 2006, we began the cooperation with INSEAD to launch the Tsinghua-INSEAD DualDegree EMBA Program.FeaturesThe Tsinghua EMBA Program combines cutting-edge management theories with theChinese conditions and cultivates the students’ overall management capability throughbusiness case analysis, business simulation, team work and field study. Our unique“mobile campus” model offers the opportunity for our students to visit various enterpriseswhere they capitalize on their work experience and what they’ve learned in our EMBAProgram to develop practical proposals for the enterprises.Global VisionSince 2003, we have organized our EMBA students to visit MIT Sloan School ofManagement and London Business School to attend classes taught by world-classmasters of management. At the same time, EMBA students from LBS, HEC and otherfamous business schools have visited our school. Mr. John Thornton, former Presidentof Goldman Sachs, teaches the “Global Leadership Program” where he invites numerousbusiness and political leaders to be guest speakers in the classroom, adding a newinternational dimension to our program.Alumni NetworkThe alumni are very important resourcesfor our program. The student associationsserve as value-added centers in the era ofknowledge economy, providing a platformfor our alumni to maintain life-longconnections and enjoy life-long learning.As of Oct. 2006, Tsinghua EMBA StudentAssociations have been established inLiaoning, Inner Mongolia, Tianjin, Shanxi,Shandong, Hunan, Henan, Heilongjiang,Jiangsu, Taiwan and Peal Delta region. Wealso organize the Seminar on TraditionalChinese Culture to provide an opportunityof further study and communications to ouralumni.21
