Operational ConvenienceBVM-L and PVM-L Series monitors have unique features which are made possible only by Sony’s flatpaneltechnologies. These monitors also benefit from the same acclaimed functions and operationalconveniences of their predecessors, BVM-A Series and BVM-D Series CRT master monitors.In addition, the BVM-L170 and PVM-L1700 incorporate a robust protection panel and a DC batteryoperationcapability, features which are extremely desirable in the field.Variety of Display ModesMost flat-panel monitors can only display progressiveimages at the input signal’s frame rate. However, theBVM-L and PVM-L Series have two additional and unique■ Black Frame Insertion DisplayCombining its high-frame-rate operation*¹ with uniqueBlack Frame Insertion technology, BVM-L andPVM-L Series master monitors dramatically reduce motionblur; a characteristic that is inherent to LCD devices. Asfor the BVM-L231 and BVM-L170, these monitors employBlack Frame Insertion using a method called backlightblinking. Sony's backlight blinking operates by turning thebacklight emission on and off within the duration of oneframe*².
