■ Multiple Color Gamuts PVM-L Series(SMPTE-C, EBU, ITU-R BT.709)The PVM-L Series incorporates the same color conversionsystem as the BVM-L Series – the nonlinear cubicconversion color management system – that uses aunique 3-D LUT (Look-up table) to reproduce precise colorgamuts throughout the entire grayscale. Also while widecolor gamut CCFL backlights can in general reproducewider color gamuts than conventional CCFL backlights,not all wide CCFLs are compatible with broadcast colorgamuts. The WCG-CCFL backlight of the PVM-L Seriesis designed to emulate BVM-CRT color gamuts. Andcombined with its unique color management system,this enables the PVM-L Series to accurately reproducecolor gamuts that emulate broadcast standards suchas SMPTE-C, EBU, and ITU-R BT.709 phosphors standards.Unlike earlier CRT monitors, which offer only one colorgamut per model, the PVM-L Series allows these colorgamuts to be selected and reproduced on the samemonitor – a feature made possible only by Sony’s uniquemonitor technologies.With the PVM-L Series, white can be reproduced uniformlyright across the screen.
