For the first two seconds after switching on, thespeed of the loaded film is automatically shown in the viewfinder display. In the OFF position,it locks the shutter release, preventing unwanted exposures.Flash In addition to TTL (through the lens) flash exposure metering, theLEICA M7 features two more specialist technologies – a fill-in flash, usefulin many situations to brighten a subject in daylight and HSS (highspeedsynchronization) with shutter speeds of up to 1/1000 second. Inthis case, the exposure and flash are set manually. To obtain a morenatural image at very long exposures with the fill-in flash, the flash on theLEICA M7 can be fired to coincide with the second shutter curtain. Thesefunctions are available in conjunction with specially equipped Metz flashunits.DX coding The LEICA M7 features automatic film speed setting, finally making accidentalbad exposures caused by incorrect ISO settings a thing of the past. Of course, the filmspeed can also be entered manually if preferred.
