Make a Choice Club. A common
project for MAC is roadside
clean-ups, a wonderful opportunity
to help our environment. MAC allows
students to choose what they
want to do in their free time.
Campus Beautification Day. More than 30 volunteers gave their
time working on various projects around campus. These included
painting all the fire hydrants, trimming bushes, painting the steps
leading up to the Halleck Student Center, and cleaning the Lourdes
Grotto. “Campus Beautification Day was wonderful,” said Admissions
Counselor Casey Hitchcock. “Having so many volunteers meant that we
could focus on the little details that add to the overall aesthetics of the
Environmental Club. The
club aims to educate students,
faculty, and staff on what sustainability
really is. Their definition:
“Meeting the needs of the present
without compromising the ability
of future generations to meet their
own needs.” This club is not only
having an impact on the students
who join the club, but also on SJC
and surrounding community. Katie
Wright ’12 (pictured above) says,
“SJC is such a close-knit community,
I think that we can really bring
together our best resources in order
to make our campus more sustainable.”
Care Center. The RA staff has
been going to the Care Center for
the past two years during their
summer training, right before the
freshmen arrive on campus. New
friends are made by playing bingo,
cleaning up the dining room,
playing Wii bowling, singing
karaoke, attending ice cream
socials, and other fun for both RAs
and Care Center residents alike.
