Space Applications Centre (SAC) is one of the majorcentres of the Indian Space Research Organisation(ISRO). It is a unique centre dealing with a wide variety ofdisciplines comprising design and development ofpayloads, societal applications, capacity building andspace sciences, thereby creating a synergy oftechnology, science and applications. The Centre isresponsible for the development, realisation andqualification of communication, navigation, earth &planetary observation, meteorological payloads andrelated data processing and ground systems. Severalnational level application programmes in the area ofnatural resources, weather and environmental studies,disaster monitoring/mitigation, etc are also carried out. Itis playing an important role in harnessing spacetechnology for a wide variety of applications for societalbenefits.SAC is a host institution for the training programmesrelated to Satellite Communication, Satellite Meteorologyand global change under the Centre for Space Science &Technology Education in Asia and the Pacific (CSSTEAP)affiliated to the United Nations (UN).http://www.isro.org
