This new Collaboration Group also secured funding from Ministry of Social Development,Ministry of Health, <strong>Community</strong> Employment Group, Department of Child Youth and Family,Waitakere City <strong>Council</strong> and Housing New Zealand to employ a Collaboration Project Manager.<strong>The</strong> Strategy Group identified the collective outcomes and drafted the priority focus areas andsome goal areas to gather around, called “Calls To Action”.Waitakere Wellbeing Collaboration ProjectHealthy, Safe &Well HousedCulturally Diverse &Socially integratedEducationally Rich,Highly Skilled & CreativeEconomicallyProductive& Innovative‘Great Start’ (0-8)‘Safe Families’‘Life Changes’(Quality Transitions)June 2003In December 2002 the Wellbeing Summit, attended by over 170 individuals from more than 70organisations, adopted and mandated the collaborative direction for the City and the 6 draftCalls to Action. <strong>The</strong> Summit also created one extra Call to Action around Inclusion. At theSummit, organisations also committed to participating on working groups to identify specific,measurable and achievable collaborative projects and ways to make them happen.<strong>The</strong> Calls to Action for 2003-5 are:qqqqqqqEvery child has access to quality preschool educationEvery new migrant and refugee to Waitakere City settles successfullyFamilies give their children a great startViolence against children and women is reducedEvery student in Waitakere leaves school with a planDevelop a culture of inclusion that fully includes all people in Waitakere CitySchools and communities working together<strong>The</strong>se Calls to Action have provided a gathering point for action. As of August 2003, the Callsto Action Teams have and are still identifying projects. Over 45 groups and organisations arecurrently involved with 9 projects currently in action.PAGE 35
