There, El<strong>in</strong>a sang atthe conservatorium and formed her own quartet. Along withCol<strong>in</strong> Valon on piano, Patrice Moret on bass and Nor<strong>be</strong>rtPfammater on drums, she performs her unique jazzy<strong>in</strong>terpretation of traditional songs from south-eastern Europe.Her second album, Lume Lume, presents an El<strong>in</strong>a Duni faraway from the folklore clichés and performs emotional andlively ethno-jazz with her powerful and expressive voice.23:15 Boban I Marko Markov ić (Serbia – Horta Hall)The band of the Serbian trumpeter Boban Marković, renowned from thefilms of Emir Kusturica (Arizona Dream, Underground), has <strong>be</strong>en amongthe <strong>be</strong>st brass bands of Central Europe for around ten years. It consistsof 12 musicians and plays an explosive mix of jazz and <strong>Balkan</strong>. In gypsymusic, life is short while the nights are long and packed with stories. Thestory of the Boban I Marko Marković Orkestar is one of a fathergradually pass<strong>in</strong>g the torch (and trumpet) to his son. The Macedonian Orkestar Braka Kadrieviwas the <strong>be</strong>st <strong>in</strong> the eyes of many, but could not w<strong>in</strong> as theywere not Serbian. The Orkestar Ekrem Mamutovićeventually took the honours.
