Since 1995 GNLD has been the founding sponsor of PhenHRIG (Plant PolyphenolHuman Research Interest Group) whose scientific focus is on polyphenols and flavonoids in humanhealth. A Message From The SABRadiation, You, And Your BusinessSince the devastating earthquake and tsunami struck Japan on March 11, 2011, the Japanesepeople have been struck with a tragedy of unthinkable proportion, and the world has beenconfronted with the worst nuclear disaster since Chernobyl. Explosions and leaks from the three severely damagedreactors at Fukushima, Japan, have allowed radioactive contamination to be released directly into the atmosphereand surrounding water. Within days, radiation was detected in Tokyo drinking water and by March 31, just 20 daysafter the event, detections were reported in the western United States and Canada. As the situation continues tounfold it is apparent that to one extent or another we will all be living with the aftermath of this monumental disasterand human tragedy for a long time to come.We began receiving questions from concerned Distributors almost immediately following news of the crisis at theFukushima reactors. The questions were almost always the same: What can people do to protect themselves? Howdoes this impact GNLD’s products or raw materials?Here’s what you should know:Prepare your body to defend itself: When it comes to personal health there is no simple solution to radiationexposure short of avoiding it. But unless you live very close to the source, or directly downwind in the fallout, therisks from such exposure are not all that large. In fact, the sort of low level radiation most people will be exposed tofrom this event is well within the body’s ability to deal with. Natural defense systems within the body have thecapacity to protect and even repair low level radiation-caused damage within cells and their DNA. These defensesystems rely directly and indirectly upon foods and the nutrients they contain.
