UNRULY PASSENGERSThis is a very rare occurrence, but one that needs to be mentioned. If apassenger ever displays threatening behaviour to the Driver or any otherpassengers, you must stop the <strong>Minibus</strong> as soon as is safely possible (e.g. pullinto the hard shoulder on a motorway). It is then the Driver’s decision as towhen and whether they think that it is safe again to continue. This may meanasking the unruly passenger to leave the bus and not continue the journey withthe rest <strong>of</strong> the group. Where possible BEFORE asking a passenger to leave,please call the <strong>Student</strong>s’ <strong>Union</strong> on 01483 689223 (09.00-16.00hrs) or <strong>University</strong>Security 01483 682002 (16.00-09.00 hrs) to alert them to the situation and gainadvice. If the situation becomes unmanageable, call the police immediately on999, or if you are on Campus call Security on ext. 3333, or on 01483 683333.On your return to the Campus you will need to complete a <strong>University</strong> Incident& Accident Report Form (available from reception in the <strong>Student</strong>s’ <strong>Union</strong>).SECURITY DO’s & Don’ts WHEN PARKING THE VEHICLEFUELA moment’s thought goes a long way towards protecting your vehicle. Hereare a few reminders:• Always check the doors are locked and that windows are closed.• Make sure that the steering column lock is engaged.• Park in a well-lit area at night• Don’t leave your key in the ignition even if refuelling or in a locked area (e.g. agarage)• If the vehicle has deadlocks or alarm, make sure that they are engaged.• Don’t leave valuables on show - lock them in the glove box, or take them withyou.Type <strong>of</strong> fuel: All <strong>of</strong> the student union vehicles take DIESEL fuel. If you put inthe wrong fuel, you will be fined. If you put the wrong fuel in the vehicle donot drive it!Nearest petrol station: <strong>The</strong> nearest petrol stations to the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> Surreyare the 24-hour garages (Shell, Esso & Total) at Ladymead Road, GuildfordPaying for fuel:<strong>The</strong> vehicles have fuel-cards attached to the keys. <strong>The</strong>se can be used at anygarage displaying the All-Star Logo. When paying with a fuel-card you may beasked for the vehicle registration, current millage and/or PIN. <strong>The</strong>se can all befound in the vehicles’ Logbook.If the vehicle does not have a fuel-card, please make sure that you haveenough money when you begin your travel to cover the cost for your journey.On bookings where fuel is refundable, always ask for a VAT receipt when youbuy fuel, and take these to the <strong>Union</strong> Cashiers on your return (12 - 2pm exceptTuesdays & weekends) to get a refund <strong>of</strong> the money.12<strong>Minibus</strong> <strong>Handbook</strong> January 2014
