Fourier transform spectroscopy was used tojustify the function of hydroxyapatite as an indication of the bioactivity potential ofthe studied glasses after immersion in aqueous phosphate solution. The results areinterpreted on the basis of current views on the corrosion mechanism of suchglasses in relation to their composition and constitution.Furthermore, antimicrobial activity of the prepared glasses were studied againstGram-negative bacteria: Escherichia coli, Gram-positive Bacillus cereus, Bacillussubtilis using minimum inhibitory zone (MIZ) method.
