If possible, please register online before you arrive in Oxford. Registration will be open from1 September 2013. If you have applied for student loans supplied by the UK Government, your first loaninstalment should be paid to you within a week or so of your arrival at Somerville, providing that you havealready registered online with the University.You will not be able to register until you have completed and returned your University Contract (seebelow). If you are not able to register in advance of arriving in Oxford, you will be able to do so once youare here.1.2 University contractYour department or faculty will already have sent you, or will soon be sending you, a University contract tosign and return.Your signing of the University contract constitutes your agreement to abide by the University's rules. It alsoenables the University to produce your University Card, which will give you access to facilities includinglibraries and an email address. Provided the University has received your University Contract in good time,your University Card should be available when you arrive at Somerville.If the University does not receive your Contract in good time, your University Card may not be ready whenyou arrive in Oxford, and this will delay your access to email, libraries, and other useful resources.2.1 College contractAs at other universities, a person accepting admission to a college thereby accepts an obligation to obeythe rules of that college and of the University and to pay such fees, dues and charges as the University orcollege may lawfully determine. The undertaking to obey these rules forms part of the Somerville CollegeContract 2013 on the New Graduates webpage.The College contract also covers a number of other important matters, including compliance with therequirements of the Data Protection Act. Please note that if another student urgently needs a book fromthe College Library, it is sometimes necessary for the Library staff to disclose the name of the reader towhom the book is currently checked out. Please inform the Librarian in writing if you are unwilling for suchdisclosure to be made in your case.If you accept the offer of a place at Somerville College, please print and sign the Somerville CollegeContract. Please print double-sided if possible, and staple the pages together in the top left-hand corner.Fill in your Contract, and send it in hard copy to the Academic Office at Somerville, to arrive no later thanFriday 13 September 2013.The principal College Rules are detailed at the end of the contract.
