<strong>The</strong> Keynote speech at the Gala Dinner wasdelivered by the National President <strong>of</strong><strong>Engineers</strong> Australia Dr Marlene Kanga. DrKanga talked about the important role <strong>of</strong>engineers and engineering in Asian Century.She explained why the engineers with linksto Asia especially those who were born therehave a major role in developing Australia’sstrategy for greater engagement with Asia.Dr Kanga also <strong>of</strong>fered <strong>Engineers</strong> Australia’sassistance for <strong>Sri</strong> <strong>Lanka</strong>n Universities to obtain the full membership <strong>of</strong> Washington Accord.IESL NSW secretary Eng Waruna Kaluarachchidelivering the vote <strong>of</strong> thanks acknowledged thegenerous support <strong>of</strong> the sponsors NSW PublicWorks (gold), Fulton Hogan (Silver) and Bronzesponsors Sydney Catchment Authority, SMEC,Dulux and Aquatec-Maxcon.2013 IESL NSW <strong>Engineers</strong> Excellence Awards were also presented at the Gala Dinner by thePresident <strong>of</strong> IESL, National President <strong>of</strong> <strong>Engineers</strong> Australia and Chair <strong>of</strong> IESL NSW.After a <strong>Sri</strong> <strong>Lanka</strong>n spicy dinner, theattendees were entertained by Drum Beatswith an African drum play. <strong>The</strong>n the floorwas open for the engineers and the spousesto dance to the vibrating rhythm <strong>of</strong> Fusive.<strong>The</strong> Master <strong>of</strong> Ceremonies DukeRamachandran kept the spirit <strong>of</strong> the Gala Niteright at the top.
