Catalogue HY17-8542/UK/USGeneral InformationAuxiliary ValvesQDS6ApplicationsThe QDS6 sequence valve is designed toopen or close a hydraulic pilot signal (thatcomes from an external source) when itreaches a predetermined pressure level.Common applications of the valve are inpilot logic circuits and sequence-controlsub-circuits. One example of use is as ameans of load-moment limitation(overload protection) in the liftingfunctions of mobile cranes, in conjunctionwith hydraulic remote control. In suchcases, the QDS6 is used to break the pilotsignal between the control valve andthe directional valve when the signalpressure reaches a predetermined valueset on the QDS6.Construction and functionThe QDS6 is a three-way, pilot-operatedvalve. Its directional function is normallyopen or normally closed.The valve housing is manufacturedfrom continuously-cast grey iron and containsa precision-ground spool and pilotsection.When the pilot signal exceeds thepreset switching pressure, the spoolchanges position, thus blocking P andconnecting S with T. Alternatively, T isblocked and S connected with P (seefigure on page 4). The spool is positivelyoverlapped, i.e. it closes the one connectionbefore opening the other. The pilotsection can be drained either internally orexternally.
