CALCULATORS: Calculators may be used for homework but may NOT be used for in-class quizzes,tests or the final exam.EXAMS: There will be 5 exams. Make-up exams will only be given in the case of a verifiableemergency. Illness requires a doctor’s note. You MUST contact the instructor by phone or e-mailbefore the scheduled exam time in order to take a make-up exam. Make-up exams will be longer andmore difficult than those given in class.MASTERY TEST: A mastery exam will be given on September 27 th . This exam will consist of verybasic but essential differentiation problems. Of the 8 problems on the exam, you must do 7absolutely correctly. The exam can be retaken until “mastery” (the minimum skill level indifferentiation) is achieved. You cannot get a grade of C- or better in Math <strong>1800</strong> unless you pass themastery test by November 12 (regardless of your performance otherwise). The Mastery Test is notincluded in your course grade.FINAL EXAM: The comprehensive final exam is mandatory and is worth 300 points. The final will begiven on Wednesday December 12 th from 12:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. in a location to be announced.GRADES: Best 15 Quizzes: 100 points 900 - 1000 points AHomework: 100 800 - 899 BExams: 500 700 - 799 CFinal Exam: 300 600 - 699 DTotal 1000 points 0 - 599 F<strong>MATH</strong> LAB: The Math Lab in 222 SSB offers free tutoring during the day, evening and weekends.For more information visit: http://www.cs.umsl.edu/lab/mathlab.htmlPolicy concerning grades in cases in which a student does not complete the course:1. If no grades have been recorded the grade FN is given. The F for Non-Participation will be treatedin GPA calculations as an F. If any grade has been recorded the grade F will be given. These gradescannot be changed retroactively to excused grades.2. A delayed grade is given only for a VERIFIABLE EMERGENCY occurring at the end of the course.All course work must be completed to that point and the student must currently have a C or better.3. An EX (excused) grade will only be given to students who complete the necessary paperwork todrop the course.***You MUST OFFICIALLY DROP the course with the Registrar in order to receive an excusedgrade.
