This year, we face
our greatest ever
challenge to deliver
services and
maintain quality
against a backdrop
of unprecedented
funding cuts
by central
government.
Haringey Council faces a three year
funding settlement which will mean
a budget reduction of more than £83
million. In the coming year alone, we have
to find more than £40 million of savings.
While we remain committed to making
back office savings where possible, the
scale of the cuts will clearly affect a
number of services which residents rely
on.
Despite the enforced cuts, we remain
committed to improving the services
we can provide to deliver high quality
services to all residents right across the
borough.
Our clear priority is to continue to help
and support the most vulnerable in
our communities, including looked
after children and adults with learning
disabilities.
Your council tax is vital in helping us to
cover some of the costs of the services
we provide, and we are grateful for your
contribution to making Haringey a better
place to live, work, study and play.
These are hard financial times for the
council and for local people, and we hope
that by freezing council tax rates for
2011/12 we have helped to ease some of
the pressure on residents.
Due to higher demand we will be
increasing primary school place provision
and also improving secondary school
facilities through the ongoing Building
Schools for the Future project.
In order to meet our ambitious targets to
reduce carbon emissions we will invest in
projects which will make both economic
and environmental sense.

about all the services we offer, so that you
can find the help you need when
you need it.
It also outlines how we will be spending
your council tax money over this coming
year, and spells out where to turn if you
need help paying bills.
