The staff at both <strong>Forest</strong> <strong>Hill</strong> and<strong>Liverpool</strong> <strong>Street</strong> <strong>School</strong> wish you all a restfulweek with your families. When the studentsreturn on March 14 th spring will be right aroundthe corner and hopefully warmer weather willsoon follow. Last day to submit an orderfor daffodils is March 15 th , 2011.STE2M Expo 2011On Saturday, March 19, 2011 <strong>School</strong> District 18will host the 5th annual STE2M Expo at BlissCarman Middle <strong>School</strong>. You may notice thename has changed slightly. This year, inadditional to the usual Science, Technology,Engineering, and Mathematics components ofthe Expo, we have added a second E – for theEnvironment! Our special focus this year ispromoting projects and presentations that dealwith <strong>ca</strong>ring for and responsibly managing ourEarth and its resources.What is the STE2M Expo Anyway?The STE2M Expo is sort oflike a science fair but it isso much more! Inaddition to providingstudents in grades K-12with an opportunity todisplay their creativeresearch, design, building, and problem solvingprojects, the event also provides STE2M-relatedgroups, businesses, faculties, and organizationsin the Fredericton area a chance to share theirpassions with the community.For K-5 StudentsThe elementary school component of theSTE2M Expo is based on a non-competitivephilosophy which encourages studentparticipation, sharing, appreciation for diversity,and inclusion. Participants will receive acertifi<strong>ca</strong>te, medal, and T-shirt for their effortsand throughout the event, many exciting prizessuch as edu<strong>ca</strong>tional games, books, toys andvarious hi-tech gadgets will be randomlyawarded to K-5 students. The event will surelybe a fun, engaging, and inspiring opportunityfor ouryoungerstudents toshare theirenthusiasm forScience,Technology,Engineering, the Environment and Math!Take Part!So, start thinking about things you findinteresting in Science, Technology, Engineering,the Environment, and Math. Maybe it’sdiseases, bridges, robots, recycling, sportsstatistics, stars & planets, insects, artificiallimbs, natural disasters, patterns, geometry,composting, airplanes, horses, puzzles, orcomputers.Whatever it is that excites you – turn it into aSTE2M Expo project and bring it along! Pair upwith a friend and see if they would like to workwith you on a project!
