4.6 Labour market servicesThree guidance services connected with the labourmarket will be described separately.• Vocational guidance, including Euro guidance, atthe public employment servicesTarget groupThere are two target groups:* All individuals (employed, unemployed, adults,young people) who contact the service themselvesto receive educational and vocational guidance* Unemployed people who are contacted by thepublic employment service with a view to developingan individual action plan.TasksProvision of both information and guidance is centralto the activities carried out by the public employmentservices. Guidance activities are mainly carried out byvocational guidance counsellors, including:* Keeping the so-called information centres up-todate.The information centres provide useful informationfor the unemployed, e.g. written materialand online databases about job opportunities indifferent sectors;* Individual guidance interviews;* Guidance tasks in relation to activation/re-engagementof the unemployed;* Development of guidance methodologies andmaterial;* In-house teaching of colleagues about guidanceand guidance methodologies;* Guidance assistance aimed at public and privateenterprises; e.g. the planning of a training programmefor a group of employees at a specificenterprise.In cooperation with job consultants, the vocationalguidance counsellors also organise:* Project meetings* Information meetings for the (newly) unemployed* Networking/job clubs.Euro guidance is solely offered by Euro advisers.Besides job placements in other European countries,Euro advisers offer:* Information about the labour market in the EU* Guidance counselling in relation to job or educationand training opportunities in the EU, the restof the Nordic countries and other countries.32
