PublicationsThe Danish National Council for Educational andVocational Guidance (R.U.E.) is responsible for theproduction and dissemination of government-financedguidance material aimed at specific target groups,mainly within the education system and the publicemployment services. Included in the target groupsare both young and adult clients as well as guidancecounsellors.Examples of guidance material:* The Danish Educational and VocationalEncyclopaedia (Dansk Uddannelses og ErhvervsLeksikon, DUEL) which contains job descriptionsand information about educational and vocationaltraining opportunities in Denmark. A separate volumewith an international perspective providesinformation about study and work opportunitiesabroad. The information contained in DUEL is alsoavailable in a CD-ROM version. DUEL is updatedon a yearly basis, the CD-ROM every six months;* An Internet database, Vidar, with information abouteducation and training courses for adults. Internetaddress: http://www.vidar.dk;* R.U.E.’s website: http://www.r-u-e.dk contains apresentation in English of R.U.E. and its activities.Other information in Danish includes a list ofR.U.E.’ s publications as well as complete Interneteditions of several of the publications, and informationabout courses and conferences arranged byR.U.E.;* On a yearly basis, R.U.E. produces and publishesdetailed information for four major target groups:- Pupils in the 6 th and 7 th forms at primary andlower secondary school: Godt i gang (‘A GoodStart’) is a personal exercise book in whichthe pupils must work with a lot of subjectsrelated to themselves and education. Includedin the book is a special volume calledUddannelsesbogen (‘the Education Book’)which will follow the pupil till the end ofprimary and lower secondary school. The aimof the education book is to inspire to thedevelopment of a personal education plan;- Pupils in the 8 th form at primary and lowersecondary school: Vi undersøger (‘ExploringOpportunities’) aims to rise the pupils’ awarenessof relations between school and employment,the labour market, their own futurecareer etc.;- Young people in transition from primary andlower secondary school to youth education.Min vej (‘My Way’) contains information aboutall training and education opportunities foryoung people between 16 and 19 years;- Young people in transition from youth educationto higher education. Uddannelses- ogErhvervsvalget (‘the Educational andVocational Choice’) contains informationabout higher education opportunities.These four documents can be downloadedfrom R.U.E.’s website.Furthermore, R.U.E. publishes material for other targetgroups, e.g. the unemployed, refugees and immigrants.46
