Thermal imaging
Thermal imaging works on the fact that all objects emit infrared radiation based on
their temperature and emissivity. Heat consists of long wavelength infrared
radiation, which cannot be seen with the human eye. Thermal imaging converts this
invisible radiation into a visible picture by using sensors to convert the electronic
signals into an easy to view picture called a thermogram.
Product overview
TKTI 10 makes this well proven technology even easier to visualize by blending the
thermogram with a visual digital picture. The level of blending is adjustable to fit to
all kinds of application analysis. A powerful light is incorporated allowing the
application to be illuminated, this is especially useful in dark environments.
To be able to have a good analysis, the most applicable emissivity for the
application you are inspecting can be selected. This is easily done from a drop-down
list with common materials.
Several options allow the temperature measurement to be monitored. Examples of
the TKTI 10’s flexibility are selection of manual or tracking cursors, area analysis of
the scene, indication of hottest and coldest temperature in the area, and average
surface temperature.
Audible and visual hot and cold alarms can also be set, immediately alerting the
user if they are exceeded. With the TKTI 10, full access to all advanced
thermographic functions, such as temperature profile analysis, or isotherm analysis
are made in a few button presses.
The TKTI 10 itself and its PC Software Suite is supplied in 9 major languages
allowing the imager to be used in many markets. The thermal camera is supplied in
a soft camcorder type bag, allowing the storage and quick access to its detachable
handle, AC adaptor with regional adapters, USB cable, CD with user manual and PC
Software Suite. For direct use, straight out of the box, the TKTI 10 is delivered with
his internal battery charged, a 1GB micro SD card already inserted and a Quick
Start Guide to guide the user through its first steps with TKTI 10.
The TKTI 10 has a 8 Hz refresh rate and is classified under customs tariff
9027.50.00. This means that generally the TKTI 10 can be exported without
restriction.
Application
Thermography is recognised as a
valuable tool for predictive
maintenance. The main applications for
which the TKTI 10 can be used for
include;
Electrical
Detect and troubleshoot electrical
defects
Check electrical panels for hot spots
Detect defective transformers and
detect loose electrical connections
Industrial
Measure bearing temperature
Measure coupling temperatures as an
indicator of misalignment
Check efficiency of heat exchanges
Monitor process machinery
Monitor industrial ovens for seal leaks
and damaged insulation
Automotive
Check engines, ignition system and
fuel/air adjustments
Check cooling systems, thermostats,
radiators, catalytic converters, brakes
and tyres
Check climate control
HVAC
Balance room temperatures
Test ductwork
Check efficiency of heat exchanges
Examine stream traps
Check furnace performance
Perform energy audits
Food Industry
Ensure safe and uniform storage and
transportation temperatures
Description
The TKTI 10 uses a bank of array based
infrared thermal detectors and a digital
visible camera. The thermal images are
displayed on a large 3.1/2" colour
screen with a LED backlight.
The 47x47 thermal array registers more
than 2200 temperature information
points per image.
With the interpolation possibility up to
180x180, in total 32400 pixels can be
displayed, giving a clear high-resolution
image.
Images can be viewed using one of
eight user selectable color palettes. The
centre pixel on the screen can be
indicated on the application by means of
a laser pointer.
Temperatures between -10°C and 300°
C ( 14 °F and 572 °F) can be displayed,
and a user selectable hot and cold spot
finder helps to pin point the hottest and
coldest spots in the imager view. This is
useful in establishing boundary
conditions in a scene. Both visible and
fully radiometric images can be captured
on a MicroSD card (supplied) for recall
and further analysis. Images can also be
downloaded to a PC from the camera for
analysis, report generation and printing.
A comprehensive thermal imaging
processing software is included for ease
of data analysis. Many options are
available including; different colour
palettes, spot temperatures, hot and
cold spots, temperature profiles,
temperature distribution, isotherms,
temperature differential, emissivity
setting, reflected temperature setting
and image zoom. Changes to an image
can be saved direct to the PC.
The TKTI 10 is supplied with powerful
report writing software, for unlimited
use by every member of the
maintenance team (no additional
software license fees). This software
enables professional looking reports to
be made in a quick and easy manner.
