MILITARY INTELLIGENCE (G-2) SECTION.—a. <strong>The</strong> military intelligence section is charged with the planning <strong>and</strong>preparation of orders (par. 62) <strong>and</strong> to some extent withoperations pertaining to the collection, evaluation, interpretation, <strong>and</strong> distribution of information of the enemy <strong>and</strong>with counterintelligence activities. Its primary function isto keep the comm<strong>and</strong>er <strong>and</strong> all others concerned informedregarding the enemy's situation <strong>and</strong> capabilities.b. <strong>The</strong> specific duties of the military intelligence sectionmay include—(1) Intelligence (<strong>FM</strong> 30-5).—(a) Planning <strong>and</strong> preparation of orders for <strong>and</strong> supervision of activities concerning thecollection, by subordinate units, of information of the enemy<strong>and</strong> of the terrain not under our control, <strong>and</strong> of weatherconditions affecting operations over enemy territory <strong>and</strong> forthe employment of aviation, the location, construction, vulnerability, <strong>and</strong> defenses of air objectives. (Coordination withG-l for prisoner of war matters; G-3 for use of combat troopsfor intelligence missions; G-4 for examination of capturedmateriel.)10
