30-31 STAFF DOCTRINES AND FUNCTIONS• 30. SIGNAL OFFICER.—a. Adviser to the comm<strong>and</strong>er <strong>and</strong>staff on signal matters, Including the location of comm<strong>and</strong>posts.b. Preparation of routine <strong>and</strong> combat orders relating tosignal communication (par. 67).c. Planning, installation, <strong>and</strong> supervision of the aircraftwarning net, when so directed.d. Preparation, publication, storage, accounting for, <strong>and</strong>distribution of codes <strong>and</strong> ciphers.e. Determination of requirements, procurement, storage,<strong>and</strong> distribution of signal equipment <strong>and</strong> supplies./. Procurement <strong>and</strong> operation of signal maintenance <strong>and</strong>repair facilities.g. Technical Inspection of signal equipment, within limitsprescribed by the comm<strong>and</strong>er, <strong>and</strong> recommendations relativeto its care <strong>and</strong> utilization.h. Technical supervision, within limits prescribed by thecomm<strong>and</strong>er, of signal operations of the comm<strong>and</strong>, Includingcoordination of the employment <strong>and</strong> of the training of signalagencies of subordinate units.i. Supervision of the installation, maintenance, <strong>and</strong> operation of the signal system, including the message center of theunit.j. Supervision of such activities pertaining to the signalintelligence, pigeon, <strong>and</strong>, except in Air Corps units, photographic services as affect the unit.fc. Examination of captured signal equipment.• 31. SURGEON;—a. Adviser to the comm<strong>and</strong>er <strong>and</strong> staff onall matters pertaining to—(1) Health <strong>and</strong> sanitation of the comm<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> of occupiedterritory.(2) Training of all troops in military sanitation <strong>and</strong>first aid.(3) Location <strong>and</strong> operation of hospitals <strong>and</strong> other medicalestablishments <strong>and</strong> of the evacuation service.b.
