<strong>ISIK</strong> COLLEGE MEADOW FAIR CAMPUS NEWSLETTERAugust 2011Year 7 Parents’ IftarWelcome Ramadan,On Tuesday the 9 th of August 2011 Year Seven students and parents were invited to have an Iftardinner at Isik <strong>College</strong>. On this special occasion, parents bought in food and shared it with others.Hence, students provided assistance to teachers in preparing tables, chairs and bench tops.There was a variety of food from rice, meat, salads, pastry to sweets which was enjoyed by all.This was a good opportunity for teachers to meet parents and build on relationships. The Iftarcommenced with a presentation of welcoming Ramadan followed by the Adhan. Hume i-tech ChallengeThe Hume i-tech Challenge is an annual competition for year 7-10 students (or equivalent)studying at a Hume City school.It is sponsored by Selimiye foundation, <strong>ISIK</strong> <strong>College</strong> and Hume City Council.Students that demonstrate the most creative and effective use of mixed multimediahave the chance to win from a cash prize pool of over $5000.It is open to year 7-10 (or equivalent) students, studying at a Hume City school,who have an interest in multimedia and new media.Depending on the year level, students can get involved by producing a projectfrom one of the two categories below:Category 1Digital Story-TellingFor year 7 & 8 studentsProduce a digital story on a topic of yourchoice using any multimedia tool youhave access to.Category 2Website DesignFor year 9 & 10 studentsCreate and design a website on a topic ofyour choice using any web tool you haveaccess to.The Hume i-tech Challenge aims to:Enhance students’ computer skills and creativity.Promote stronger community links.Bring together students from the Hume region to share learning.Promote student-teacher relationships.Enable students to achieve Information Communication Technology (ICT) relatedgoals.Encourage students to have fun while learning.In 2011 <strong>ISIK</strong> <strong>College</strong> contributed entries to both Categories from theMeadowfair campus (4 entries, two in each category) and the Eastmeadows campus (one entry ineach category).The entries were submitted on time and the oral presentation took place on Wednesday 7 th of September2011 at the Hume Global Village, Broadmeadows.The principal Mr. Ilker Temizkan , Deputy principal Mr. Kadir Emniyet and guest teacher Mr. EzioPaciocco were kind enough to attend the eve before the oral presentation day and gave the students ataste of what to expect from the judging panel.
