Forboth boys, this was their first experience of nationalcompetition and they learned a great deal abouttactics. Hamish’s final match was a long, drawnoutaffair which lasted 50 minutes and was finallydecided on points as the competitors went overtime. The technicality cost him qualification forthe gigafinal. However, Hamish and Ben werecommended on taking part and thus beingoutstanding players at both school and county level.ForestSchoolThe Forest School area is being developed in leapsand bounds. Pupils have been very busy cultivatingthe plot and planting vegetables and havefound their green fingers by understanding andimplementing the square bed planting process withbroad beans, rainbow chard, beetroot and broccoli. The children have also brought projects from theclassroom to the outdoors; ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’and Viking building and cooking habits (whittling, wattle and daub and building a fire pit) have beenparticular favourites. A compost bin has now beenset up which is added to every week. Pupils havelearned what is suitable for composting and addingthe worms is a highlight!9
