Melchoir’s widow Catherine apparently m.(2) on 29 November 1831 in Pickaway Countyto Christian Gruber as the indenture states: “… and Christian Gruber and Catharine, hiswife, late Catharine Yotter, and widow and relict of the said Melcher Yotter, …”Following Christian Gruber’s death circa June 1842, Catharine then possibly m.(3)George Stout, Sr., on 11 May 1843. Source: Carl Catherman, Mifflinburg, PA; 2000.See YNL #40, October 2002.-----------------------Notes by Carl Catherman, Mifflinburg, PA:Melchior Yoder, Jr., M5, was married to Catharine Bolender, daughter of AdamBolender, Jr. and his wife Magdalene Morr. This fact is stated explicitly in the probatefile of Catherine's grandfather Andrew Morr, who died in 1802. I have no reason tobelieve that Melchior Yoder, Jr. was ever married to anyone else.According to tax records, Melchior, Jr. lived in Hartley Township (Union County) in1815-17. Prior to that he was in Center Township (then Union, now Snyder County). Hisname is crossed out in the 1818 tax records, which is a good indication that he movedaway in that year, very likely in the spring. This is probably when he moved to PickawayCounty, OH.It is important to note that between 1814 and 1818 Adam Bolender, Jr. and most(if not all) of his children moved to OH, in particular to Stark, Tuscarawas and PickawayCounties. His son Benjamin Bolender moved to Pickaway County after 1820, and Iwould guess he did so because his older sister Catharine Yoder was already there.Unfortunately, I have no idea what became of Catharine (Bolender) Yoder or herhusband Melchior, Jr. or any children they might have had. I would agree that the 1829executor's bond refers to him.I guess that by now it is obvious that my interest in Melchior, Jr. is a result of myresearch on the Bolender family. Indeed I am working on a genealogy of fourgenerations of descendents of the immigrant Johann Adam Bolender. - Carl P.Catherman, Mifflinburg, PA March 2000---------------------------------------------Melchior Yoder Jr. in Pickaway County, Ohio28 June 2002Thanks so much to Carl Catherman for his recent research in Pickaway County,OH!He's discovered the estate files of Melchior Yoder Jr. (M5) and has shared the notesfrom his investigations. Box 85,Circleville, OH 43113. The file number is 0-394. It is fairly extensive but there is little ifanything of genealogical value. It does reveal that Melchior was not very prosperous.Among the more interesting items is a note for $50 held by "George Punches". This isdated 1819 and it appears that nothing had been paid on it except the interest. There isalso a claim presented by "Maylon Yotter Jun" which includes charges for "makingsaylor coat" and "making vest", and this is obviously from Melchior Yoder (M31).
