Andrew was a farmer.Andrew and Catherine Leist were among the first settlers of Washington Township,Pickaway County, OH, having settled in Section 23 shortly after 1805. Zion’sEvangelical Lutheran Church was the first church organized in Washington Township in1808 or 1809. The first burying ground in the township was the Zion’s Churchgraveyard, laid out as early as 1809, and the first burial was a child of Andrew andCatherine Leist. A guardian’s bond, dated 5 October 1815, appointed Andrew Leist, Jr.,“guardian for Melcher Yodder a minor upwards of 14 years of age and Catherine Yodderand Elizabeth Yodder, minors upwards of 12 years of age;” children of Benjamin <strong>Yoder</strong>(<strong>M3</strong>) brother of Melchoir. In 1832, Andrew was the administrator of the estate of hisbrother-in-law, Melchoir Yotter, M5. Catherine died 10 November 1856, aged 73 years,in Washington Township, Pickaway County, OH; interred in St. Paul’s ChurchyardCemetery.According to the History of Pickaway County, Ohio and Representative Citizens, by theHonorable Aaron R.
