Northeast H<strong>is</strong>toric Preservation Workgroup<br />

Northeast Community College<br />

has a rich h<strong>is</strong>tory of education,<br />

and we want to preserve<br />

th<strong>is</strong> h<strong>is</strong>tory <strong>for</strong> generations to<br />

come.<br />

A group has been <strong>for</strong>med<br />

to document the h<strong>is</strong>tory start<strong>in</strong>g<br />

with the <strong>for</strong>mation of the<br />

Norfolk Junior College <strong>in</strong><br />

the 1920s, it’s clos<strong>in</strong>g and reopen<strong>in</strong>g,<br />

the <strong>for</strong>mation of the<br />

Northeast <strong>Nebraska</strong> Technical<br />

College, the merger of the two<br />

separate <strong>in</strong>stitutions, and our<br />

<strong>in</strong>stitution as it <strong>is</strong> today. We<br />

are search<strong>in</strong>g <strong>for</strong> memorabilia<br />

and photographs to be used <strong>in</strong><br />

d<strong>is</strong>plays.<br />

Marston <strong>said</strong> students from<br />

the O’Neill area will now have<br />

another tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g tool to teach<br />

them how to help when an <strong>in</strong>dividual<br />

has a heart attack. “If the<br />

right k<strong>in</strong>d of treatment <strong>is</strong> given<br />

to a heart attack victim with<strong>in</strong><br />

seconds after be<strong>in</strong>g stricken,<br />

the chances are good that the<br />

life can be saved,” Sullivan <strong>said</strong>.<br />

“CPR tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g teaches a person<br />

how to keep the heart beat<strong>in</strong>g<br />

until professional help arrives.”<br />

elective offices.”<br />

S<strong>in</strong>ce citizens are not allowed<br />

to serve on two such<br />

elective boards at the same<br />

time, Fauss, who also serves on<br />

the Norfolk City Council, had to<br />

resign from one of the Boards.<br />
