SPORTS NEWSSRUSHTI JANUARY - MARCH, 2010SPORTS IN NMREC--Department of Mechanical <strong>Engineering</strong>*Sports not only build competence but brings out the best in a person. This is what has been provedtime and again by NMRians. They have given their hearts and souls to what they are best at doing,which has brought the college proud. Earning laurels has just been a part of this institution from thestart and every loss has been taken no less than an opportunity to hone ourselves.It is a rare sight in colleges that faculty advisors compete against each other in volley ball and badminton courts.This is quite a significant routine breaker in our college and has become an everyday-healthy-activity. Sportsare not just seen as a means of spending away time but they have been inculcated in the regular schedule, herein NMREC. This is an indicator that physical training is given importance at par with academics.The Department of PHYSICAL TRAINING has been established with a view to imparting certain disciplinein everyday activities. Much ef<strong>for</strong>t is being put in by each of the physical trainers to continue being to be thebest. This ef<strong>for</strong>t needs to be put into each individual to bring out the best in them so that there is everlastingexistence of sportive talent.In 2008, NMREC had the privilege of conducting the JNTU B-zone games which include basketball, volleyball,throw ball and indoor games like chess, carroms and table tennis. In each of the events, all the participants fromvarious colleges gave their best per<strong>for</strong>mances.To support the students in their endeavours the physical trainers have rolled up their sleeves.UNIVERSITY REPRESENTATIONS(IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR- 2009-2010)CROSS COUNTRY RUN MEN (12.5KM)K.Sai Dinakar <strong>Reddy</strong> (MECH 4) and S.Madhu (CSE 3) representing JNTU participated in ALL INDIAINTER-UNIVERSITY CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP held at Mahatma Gandhi University,Kottayam in Kerala from 16 th to 21 st September, 2009.HOCKEY MENK.Stephen (MECH 4), Md.Zubair (ECE 2) and Santhosh (IT 3) representing JNTU participated inSOUTH ZONE INTER UNIVERSITY HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIP held in Banglore University from5 th to 9 th October 2009.BASKET BALL WOMENGayathri (ECE 3) representing JNTU participated in South Zone Inter University Basket Ball Championshipfrom 9 th to 15 th November 2009.*ContributorsFaculty : Pallavi, Assistant ProfessorStudents: Sai Dinakar <strong>Reddy</strong>, IV, Stephan, IV, Vivek, II22
