HOY -- Ray and Donna Hoy established an endowed scholarship for students<br />
enrolled in any credit program of study from <strong>Wor</strong>cester, <strong>Wic</strong>omico or<br />
Somerset County. Ray Hoy came to <strong>Wor</strong>-<strong>Wic</strong> in the summer of 2000, to serve<br />
as the second president of the college. Income from the endowment is used<br />
for the annual scholarships. Selection is based on financial need and academic<br />
achievement. Recipients must maintain a 3.00 grade point average.<br />
KELLEY MEMORIAL -- Members of the Grand Ball of Ocean City Committee<br />
established an endowed scholarship in memory of the late Harry W. Kelley,<br />
mayor of Ocean City from 1970 to 1985. Income from the endowment is<br />
used for the annual scholarships, which can be used for tuition, fees, books<br />
or any other related educational expenses at <strong>Wor</strong>-<strong>Wic</strong>. Recipients must be<br />
from <strong>Wor</strong>cester County. Priority is given to Ocean City residents, with secondary<br />
consideration given to students enrolled in the hotel-motel-restaurant<br />
management program. Selection is based on financial need. Recipients<br />
must maintain a 2.50 grade point average.<br />
LYNCH MEMORIAL -- Kim Lynch, a 1996 graduate of <strong>Wor</strong>-<strong>Wic</strong>, provides<br />
$800 each year for this scholarship, which is named for her late husband,<br />
Leslie Howard Lynch. Applicants must be registered for six or more credit<br />
hours and have declared a major. Preference is given to students who are<br />
majoring in electronics. Selection is based on financial need and scholastic<br />
achievement. Recipients must maintain a 3.00 grade point average.<br />
LYNCH MEMORIAL -- The Bank of Ocean City provides $1,000 in scholarship<br />
funds each year for this scholarship, which is named for the late John B.<br />
“Tres” Lynch III, a second-generation member of the board of directors of the<br />
Ocean City Hotel-Motel-Restaurant Association and co-owner of the Commander<br />
Hotel, who died in 2008. Applicants must be enrolled in the hotelmotel-restaurant<br />
management program, and working or planning to work in<br />
the hospitality industry. Selection is based on financial need and scholastic<br />
achievement. Recipients must maintain a 3.00 grade point average.<br />
MANER -- Friends of Dr. Arnold H. Maner established an endowed scholarship<br />
in honor of <strong>Wor</strong>-<strong>Wic</strong>’s founding president who retired in June of 2000<br />
after 25 years of service. Income from the endowment is used for the annual<br />
scholarships. Selection is based on financial need and scholastic achievement.<br />
MARTIN MEMORIAL -- Friends, family members and co-workers of the late<br />
Julia S. Martin, a developmental reading faculty member at the college, established<br />
this endowed scholarship fund for students who are at least 23<br />
years old and whose diagnostic assessment scores indicate a need for one or<br />
more developmental reading courses. Income from the endowment is used<br />
for the annual scholarships. Recipients must enroll in developmental reading<br />
during their first semester at the college. Selection is based on financial need.<br />
Awards are provided to meet direct expenses for tuition, fees and/or books<br />
not covered by other sources of financial aid.
