Ryan Boyle had 44 points (17g, 27a) to become the <strong>Ivy</strong><strong>League</strong> player of the year as a sophomore. The Tigers alsoclaimed their eighth straight <strong>Ivy</strong> <strong>League</strong> men's lacrossechampionship. Nine <strong>Ivy</strong> members were named All-Americansincluding first team selection Ryan McClay of Cornell.Princeton and Cornell both competed in the NCAA women'stournament tournament, Princeton coming home with theNCAA title. The Tiger's Lauren Simone, Rachel Becker andTheresa Sherry were named first team All-America. JenNewitt (Dartmouth) and Jaimee Reynolds (Cornell) were alsonamed on the first team. Pitcher of the year Ben Crockettand his Harvard squad, the Red Rolfe Division champion,defeated Princeton, the Gehrig Division champion, to win the<strong>Ivy</strong> Baseball title and secure a postseason berth. TheCrimson lost in the elimination round of the NCAA tournament.Princeton won their first <strong>Ivy</strong> <strong>League</strong> softball title sincethe 1996 season, going 13-1 in league play. The Tigers finishedtheir season with a loss in the NCAA tournament,bringing their record to 34-18.In golf, Yale defeated defending champion Princeton tolock up their fourth women's title in six years. On the men'sside, Princeton won this year's <strong>Ivy</strong> Golf championship by 13strokes over second-place finisher Yale. It was Princeton'sthird straight <strong>Ivy</strong> championship. Both Brown and Harvardmade appearances in the NCAA Men's Tennis Tournamentthis season. Brown, the <strong>Ivy</strong> <strong>League</strong> champion with a 7-0 conferencerecord, was defeated by Ole Miss in the first round.Harvard advanced to round two before falling to Baylor 4-0.Alice Pirsu earned player of the year honors in Women'sTennis while leading Penn to the second round of the NCAAtournament, where they fell to Duke. She also became thefirst Penn player ever to be invited to the NCAA Tournamentsingles competition.The Cornell women added an outdoor crown to the indoortrack and field championship they had won in the fall. Onceagain, junior Katy Jay had a huge heptagonal meet for theBig Red, sweeping the two short sprints. In the men's heptagonaltrack meet, Penn and Princeton entered the 4x400mtied with 121 points apiece. After Princeton ran 3:11.73, theQuakers did them one better, running a meet record 3:10.37to steal the heptagonal championship from the Tigers.Princeton's Tora Harris, however, provided yet another stunninghighlight, soaring over the high jump bar at 7-7 to set aHeps record and a personal best. He would go on to becomenational champion, adding to his indoor crown. The Yalelightweight varsity eight men's crew was ranked No. 1 in thenation and undefeated for the spring. They captured theEARC Eastern Sprints title. Harvard captured the <strong>Ivy</strong> title witha second place finish behind Wisconsin in heavyweight crew.The Brown women captured a coveted national championshipin Women's Rowing as well as this year's EasternSprints title.
