to available opportunities, training requirements for these positions, <strong>and</strong> counseling tosupport appropriate employment interview behavior is recommended.Resource Coordination Personnel <strong>and</strong> TrainingIt is recommended that fulltime resource coordinators serve between 50-75 families.Responsibilities of the resource coordinator(s) should include but not be limited to:a) Conducting meetings with parents/guardians to promote positive parenting, <strong>and</strong>providing educational, employment, <strong>and</strong> health resource coordination servicesb) Facilitating the coordination of services for children <strong>and</strong> families through multiplepartnerships with public/private agencies in the communityc) Providing opportunities for parents to enhance their knowledge of childdevelopment through conducting workshops in collaboration with theprekindergarten teachers <strong>and</strong> school administratorsd) Conducting regularly scheduled meetings with prekindergarten teachers <strong>and</strong>school administrators to discuss relevant information concerning support forprekindergarten children <strong>and</strong> familiese) Assisting with transition activities such as locating <strong>and</strong> obtaining all necessarydocumentation <strong>and</strong> health related requirements for kindergarten entry thefollowing yearf) Documenting <strong>and</strong> maintaining all records related to the above responsibilitiesIt is recommended that persons providing resource coordination services shall meet thefollowing requirements:Possess a baccalaureate degree in Social Work, Psychology, Child Welfare, or otherfield closely related to providing social services to families of young children, <strong>and</strong>possess proficient oral <strong>and</strong> written communication skills.Qualified LEA personnel may be currently available to assist in the coordination ofsupport services. These individuals could be employed in positions such as schoolnurses or counselors. School systems might collaborate with other local social serviceagencies, Head Start or universities to provide these services.SECTION 8: PUBLIC AWARENESSThe LEA’s public awareness plan shall provide information on the availability ofprekindergarten classes before- <strong>and</strong> after-school enrichment activities to all age-eligiblechildren <strong>and</strong> the nondiscriminatory admissions policy. A child cannot be deniedparticipation on the basis of race, color, or national origin (Title VI of the Civil Rights Actof 1964); gender (Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972 <strong>and</strong> Title II of theVocational Education Amendments of 1976); or disability (Section 504 of theRehabilitation Act of 1973 <strong>and</strong> The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990) ineducational programs.40<strong>LA</strong> 4 <strong>Guidelines</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Implementation</strong> H<strong>and</strong>book
