In his speech,Casanova emphasized the role of BCDAin linking former baselands in Northernand Central Luzon through infrastructuredevelopment and the development ofthe airports in Clark Freeport Zone (CFZ)and Poro Point Free Port Zone (PPFZ).He added that the successful conversionof the military camps in Metro Manila,particularly the Bonifacio Global City andpart of Villamor Air Base, now NewportCity, and the formers US military facilitiesin Central and Northern Luzon have set thetrend to develop other business districtsand modern cities using BCDA’s businessmode. He also mentioned the future plansof BCDA to develop a Green and SmartCity half the size of Metro Manila in Clark,and a monorail that will link the Metro RailTransit’s (MRT) at EDSA-Guadalupe stationall the way to the Bonifacio Global City andthe Ninoy Aquino International AirportTerminal III.The 240-hectare Bonifacio Global Cityis now one of the premier business andresidential districts in the country, with acombined gross floor area of 1.8 millionsquare meters to be built within the nextthree years. Behind this developmentis BCDA, in partnership with the FortBonifacio Development Corporation(FBDC), composed of the formidableconsortium of Ayala Land,Inc.
