interactive communication through voice, a normal toll free number can be used to<br />
contact the studio at Maidan Garhi. These telephone messages from different receiving<br />
terminals were fed into the on-going teleconference sessions and could be listened to by<br />
participating locations as an integral part <strong>of</strong> the communication system. The teaching end<br />
was EMPC studio, IGNOU. Regional Centres and selected receiving centres <strong>of</strong> Indira<br />
Gandhi Open University (N=100) having receiving facilities were used as the learning<br />
ends.<br />
The evaluation <strong>of</strong> the orientation was a continuous and concurrent activity. The feedback<br />
from the participants was collected through audio feedback at the end <strong>of</strong> the programme.<br />
The programme was facilitated through nodal <strong>of</strong>ficers who were nominated by the State<br />
Project Directors <strong>of</strong> the respective states. The functions <strong>of</strong> the nodal <strong>of</strong>ficers were as<br />
follows:-<br />
• Coordination with the Regional Directors <strong>of</strong> Indira Gandhi National Open<br />
University<br />
• Coordination for arrangements at the IGNOU Receiving Centres(Learning ends)<br />
• Allocation <strong>of</strong> the participants to the receiving centres as per the seating capacity<br />
and proximity<br />
• Organization <strong>of</strong> discussions and activities at the Receiving Centres (Learning<br />
ends)<br />
Present Programme and Objectives<br />
With the above background, NUEPA organized first orientation programmes in <strong>DISE</strong><br />
Data Capture Format through EDUSAT September 9, 2009. This was followed by<br />
organization <strong>of</strong> two more programmes which were held on September 21 and September<br />
27, 2010. The overall objectives <strong>of</strong> the programmes were to strengthen capacities <strong>of</strong> those<br />
who were associated with the filing up <strong>of</strong> <strong>DISE</strong> Data Capture Format. More specifically,<br />
the main objectives <strong>of</strong> the programmes were to:<br />
• Acquaint the participants with importance <strong>of</strong> <strong>DISE</strong> and objective <strong>of</strong> collection <strong>of</strong><br />
information through DCF for <strong>DISE</strong><br />
• Train the participants with the methodology <strong>of</strong> filling up the <strong>DISE</strong> Data Capture<br />
Format<br />
• Make the participants aware <strong>of</strong> the common errors committed by them in filling<br />
up forms<br />
• Invite suggestions for amendments, if any, in the DCF for <strong>DISE</strong><br />
