NGĀTI HAUĀ DEED OF SETTLEMENT5: CULTURAL REDRESS: GENERAL5.39.3 require the New Zealand Conservation Authority, or a relevant conservationboard, -(a)when considering a conservation document in relation to the site to haveparticular regard to the statement <strong>of</strong> Ngāti Hauā values, and theprotection principles, for the site; and(b) before approving a conservation document in relation to the site to -(i)(ii)consult with the trustees; andhave particular regard to their views as to the effect <strong>of</strong> thedocument on the statement <strong>of</strong> Ngāti Hauā values, and theprotection principles, for the site; and5.39.4 require the Director-General <strong>of</strong> Conservation to take action in relation to theprotection principles; and5.39.5 enable the making <strong>of</strong> regulations and bylaws in relation to the site.5.40 The statement <strong>of</strong> Ngāti Hauā values, the protection principles, and the Director-General<strong>of</strong> Conservation’s actions are in part 5 <strong>of</strong> the documents schedule.STATUTORY ACKNOWLEDGEMENT5.41 The settlement legislation will, on the terms provided by sections 27 to 35 and sections37 to 40 <strong>of</strong> the draft settlement bill, -5.41.1 provide the Crown’s acknowledgement <strong>of</strong> the statements by Ngāti Hauā <strong>of</strong>their particular cultural, spiritual, historical and traditional association with thefollowing areas:(a)(b)(c)(d)(e)(f)(g)Waiorongomai (being Part <strong>of</strong> Kaimai Mamaku Conservation Park) (asshown on deed plan OTS-190-02):Ngatamahinerua (being Part <strong>of</strong> Kaimai Mamaku Conservation Park andpart <strong>of</strong> Maurihoro Scenic Reserve) (as shown on deed plan OTS-190-03); andTe Wairere (being Wairere Falls Scenic Reserve, Part <strong>of</strong> Gordon ParkScenic Reserve and Part <strong>of</strong> Kaimai Mamaku Conservation Park) (asshown on deed plan OTS-190-04); andTe Weraiti (being Part <strong>of</strong> Kaimai Mamaku Conservation Park) (as shownon deed plan OTS-190-05); andWhewells Bush Scientific Reserve (as shown on deed plan OTS-190-06); andTe Oko Horoi (as shown on deed plan OTS-190-07); andWaikato River and tributaries within the Ngāti Hauā Area <strong>of</strong> Interest (asshown on deed plan OTS-190-08); and48
