Arrive into Munduk and get a taste oftrue Balinese hospitality with an included local dinner. (B, D)KintamaniTravel through rice fields and up Gunung Batur to Kintamani. Marvelat the views of Lake Batur with the towering mountain behind itbefore an optional village walk, hot springs soak or volcano hike. Nestled amongst scenic rice fields and with alandscape dotted with temples and palaces, it’s easy to see whyartists have found inspiration here for decades. Drive to the village ofTetebatu on the slopes of the Rinjani Volcano, where you can explorethe area’s rice paddies, tobacco fields and the small village. (B)SenaruEnjoy a spectacular drive through the forested slopes of the RinjaniMountains and across the dry, eastern side of Lombok. Approachingthe Rinjani Volcano from the north, climb its slopes once more toreach idyllic Senaru. (B)Gili IslandsHike through the valley at the base of Mount Rinjani and enjoy thehospitality of local villagers before a refreshing swim at a secludedwaterfall. Travel for around four hours to the harbour where youjump on an outrigger boat to Gili Meno, the smallest of the three GiliIslands, with coconut plantations and beautiful white beaches. Witha population of just 400 people and no cars, there’s no doubt thatthis is an ideal place to relax and really get away from it all. If you’refeeling energetic, you can head off of an organised snorkelling trip.The underwater sealife is fantastic and well worth exploring.
