N ews Amity By: Raven Procter Runners, Throwers, and Jumpers Oh My! Tuesday January 18th, the 2011 track season will be underway. Tryouts will be held in the Queen of Peace cafeteria hallway from 3:30 p.m.- 5:30 p.m. and last for three days. The first day of tryouts is mandatory for joining the team. Coach Sims, Coach Mal and Coach O’Sullivan will be in charge of testing athletes in running, weight lifting, and jumping. Athletes can choose from running to throwing, shot and discus, and jumping. The indoor track season that starts on February 12th at Track Tryouts Hinsdale Central and the outdoor track season will start March 24th at Reavis High School. Athletes are not obligated to stay for both seasons. Athletes can do indoor track and move to another spring sport if they wish. Last year’s track team was successful by taking 4th place in the GCAC outdoor meet and last year senior Ashley Nichols made All Conference as a thrower. This year’s team can only get better.
