This year “Catholic <strong>School</strong>s<br />
Week” will be taking place January<br />
30 - February 4, 2011. Every<br />
year there is a different theme<br />
and this year’s theme is “Catholic<br />
<strong>School</strong>s: A+ for America”.<br />
This theme reflects that Catholic<br />
schools are an added plus for the<br />
nation. Catholic schools have<br />
high academic standards and<br />
high academic rates which are<br />
all supported by moral values.<br />
<strong>Queen</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Peace</strong> has many<br />
activities planned for this week.<br />
We will begin Catholic <strong>School</strong>s<br />
Week with a liturgy Monday<br />
morning. Tuesday is Parent/<br />
Grandparent visitation and the<br />
student recognition assembly.<br />
Visitors are welcomed to follow<br />
the students from periods A-D.<br />
The student recognition assembly<br />
will take place during an<br />
extended homeroom. Visitors are<br />
invited to come to the assembly<br />
and there will be seats reserved<br />

Catholic <strong>School</strong>s Week<br />
The Spirit Assembly will be held February 4, 2011<br />
in the gymnasium. The players from the basketball<br />
team will be indentified and recognized. The<br />
players from the Frosh, Junior Varsity, and Varsity<br />
teams will show their team spirit. The cast from<br />
the Spring Musical, “Do Black Patent Leather<br />
Shoes Really Reflect Up” will be performing a<br />
portion <strong>of</strong> the play. The Spring Musical which<br />
is scheduled to open at the end <strong>of</strong> February is<br />
currently in rehearsal. The cast is performing to<br />
dents will be invited to attend<br />
an African American Liturgy at<br />
Holy Name Cathedral. Faculty<br />
and Staff Appreciation Day will<br />
take place on Thursday.<br />
Student Council will provide<br />
the Faculty and Staff with lunch.<br />
Student Appreciation Day will<br />
be on Friday, the last day <strong>of</strong><br />
Catholic <strong>School</strong>s Week. Students<br />
will be appreciated with<br />
a Pride Day and Winter Assembly.<br />
Students will be cheerfully<br />
greeted by teachers when<br />
arriving to school. The winter<br />
Assembly will highlight winter<br />
sports, drama, band and other<br />
activities.<br />
SPIRIT ASSEMBLY<br />
promote the Musical, and show the school<br />
what they can expect when they come to<br />
see the show. Some faculty members will be<br />
pulling students out <strong>of</strong> the audience to play<br />
games. The spirit assembly is held to promote<br />
school spirit. A short video from “The<br />
Mother-Daughter Fashion Show” which was<br />
held on Sunday, January 23, 2011, will be<br />
shown during the assembly. One additional<br />
highlight will be the singing <strong>of</strong> the school<br />
pride song, by the entire school.
