million compared with 59 projects<br />

(RM681.4 million) in 2010. Of these,<br />

36 were new projects (RM440.7 million<br />

or 77.3%) and six were expansion/<br />

diversification projects (RM129.4<br />

million or 22.7%). Domestic investments<br />

amounted to RM176.9 million (31%) and<br />

foreign investments totalled RM393.2<br />

million (69%). Projects approved in <strong>2011</strong><br />

are expected to generate employment<br />

opportunities for 2,831 persons.<br />

The mould and die sub-sector contributed<br />

15 projects with investments of<br />

RM215.7 million. These comprised<br />

12 new projects with investments of<br />

RM123.3 million (57.2%) and three<br />

expansion/diversification projects<br />

with investments of RM92.4 million<br />

(42.8%). Foreign investments amounted<br />

to RM156.7 million (72.6%) while<br />

domestic investments totalled RM59<br />

million (27.4%).<br />

The machining sub-sector contributed<br />

16 projects with investments of RM102.3<br />

million. These comprised 14 new<br />

projects with investments of RM96.5<br />

million (94.3%) and two expansion/<br />

diversification projects with investments<br />

of RM5.8 million (5.7%). Foreign<br />

investments amounted to RM56.3 million<br />

(55%) while domestic investments<br />

totalled RM46 million (45%).<br />

The metal stamping sub-sector contributed<br />

two new projects with investments of<br />

RM31.4 million. Foreign investments<br />

amounted to RM20.8 million (66.2%)<br />

while domestic investments totalled<br />

RM10.6 million (33.8%).
