ACADEMICS AND ALL-AMERICA SELECTIONSS&T is proud of its academic reputation as one of the topinstitutions for science and technology. The results are shown in theconsistently strong performance of the student-athletes on the S&Tcampus.During the 2011-12 academic year, over 200 student-athletes atS&T finished with a 3.0 or better GPA, a total that included 38 membersof the football team. The university also had 148 individuals named tothe academic teams in the past year that were released by the GreatLakes Valley Conference, Great Lakes Football Conference and NewSouth Intercollegiate Swimming Conference.A total of 125 S&T student-athletes were selected to the GLVC’sAll-Academic team for the 2011-12 school year,one of 10 schools in the16-team conference with at least 100 named to that squad.S&T student-athletes have won 61 Academic All-America awards,as selected by CoSIDA and its program sponsors, and 191 AcademicAll-District awards during the past 20 years. In addition, numerousteams and individuals have been honored for their success as studentathletesby their various national organizations.In the past year, six S&T student-athletes earned Capital OneAcademic All-America honors.
