COACHING STAFF(Coach Eads continued)and won 19 games overall as recently as the 1998-99 season.While at Southeast, Eads served as the team’s chief recruiter andworked primarily with the post players and the team defense – a unitwhich was ranked third in the OVC this season after being the top defensivesquad in the conference in the three previous years. Eads believes thatdefense is where the Lady Miners can build their foundation for futuresuccess.Eads has also built an impressive resume as a head coach, leadingMoberly Area Community College to a record of 199-37 over a span ofeight years from 1986-94. He took the Lady Greyhounds to the NJCAAnational tournament on five occasions, including a third place finish in1986-87 and fifth place showings in 1987-88 and 1993-94.Moberly had two 30-win seasons under Eads and also had seasons with29, 28 and 26 wins during his tenure. Eads was inducted in 2008 into theinstitution’s Athletic Hall of Fame.and also led the Lady Greyhounds to five region titles, all of which eventuallyled to berths in the national tournament. Moberly was the regionrunner-up on three other occasions and won the regular season title in alleight seasons Eads spent there.During that time Eads coached eight players who earned All-Americahonors, including four that were named to the first team. He was also chosenafter the 1990-91 season to serve as an assistant coach for the Southteam in the United States Olympic Festival in Los Angeles, Calif.; that teamwent on to win the gold medal during the 1991 festival.Eads also served as the head coach at Moberly High School from1979-83, where he led his teams to two district titles and two trips to the<strong>Missouri</strong> state tournament.Eads is originally from Trenton, Mo., and earned his bachelor’s degreein education in 1973 from the University of <strong>Missouri</strong>-Columbia; he alsoreceived a master’s degree in education from there in 1982.He was named as the Region XVI “Coach of the Year” on five occasionsKeri DeGraffenreid, Assistant CoachKeri DeGraffenreid (Hessel) begins her seventh season as an assistant coach at <strong>Missouri</strong> S&T after spending the previousthree seasons assisting the program as a student assistant and then a graduate assistant coach following her days as a LadyMiner player. Hessel moved into a full-time role as a coach prior to the 2006-07 season.“We were fortunate to have Keri here and in this position,” said Lady Miner head coach Alan Eads. “She has a goodbasketball background as she played and her father is a high school coach.” Eads added. “I think her background here at theuniversity helps her a great deal in assisting our program.”During the six seasons DeGraffenreid has served as an assistant coach, <strong>Missouri</strong> S&T has posted a record of 109-62 andbeen in the GLVC Tournament all six times; the Lady Miners also reached the championship game of the 2008 NCAA GreatLakes Regional and the 2011 NCAA Midwest Regional.DeGraffenreid, a native of Kearney, Mo., spent three years as a player for the Lady Miners, appearing in 45 games in thatspan. She played as a point guard for <strong>Missouri</strong> S&T and recorded 22 assists in those three seasons before becoming a studentassistant coach in her senior year.Upon earning her bachelor’s degree in mathematics from <strong>Missouri</strong> S&T in 2005, DeGraffenreid served as the team’s graduateassistant during the 2005-06 season when the Lady Miners finished with a 17-11 record.As a high school player at Kearney High School, DeGraffenreid scored more than 1,000 points and set the school record for career assists.She is married to S&T baseball coach Todd DeGraffenreid.Todd Rehmert, Assistant CoachTodd Rehmert is in his third season as an assistant coach with the Lady Miners. He served as an assistant coach at GLVCrival Maryville University during the 2009-10 season. Rehmert, a native of Gerald, Mo., has 25 years of basketball coachingexperience winning 340 games during that time. He graduated from <strong>Missouri</strong> Valley College in Marshall, Mo., with a bachelor’sdegree in physical education and social studies in 1987. He was a two sport athlete for the Vikings playing baseball andbasketball. He was named to the Heart of America All-Conference team in 1985 and 1986 in both baseball and basketball andwas a NAIA All-American honorable mention outfielder in 1985. Rehmert currently teaches physical education at OwensvilleElementary School.Rehmert and his wife Alicia have three children daugher Fallon and twin sons Rane and Reese. Fallon is in her second yearas as an assistant women’s basketball coach at Limestone College in Gaffney, South Carolina.LADY MINER BASKETBALL11
