ABOUT MISSOURI S&TCampus overview<strong>Missouri</strong> S&T is one of the top technologicalresearch universities in the nation. Surrounded byOzarks scenery (Rolla is about 100 mileswest of St. Louis), the campus isaccessible, safe and friendly. ATHLETICS AT MISSOURI S&TAbout athletics<strong>Missouri</strong> S&T boasts a competitive athletic program as a member of NCAA Division IIand the Great Lakes Valley Conference in all of its sports except for swimming (alignedwith the New SouthIntercollegiate Swimming Conference); the GLVC will be playing its first season of footballin <strong>2012</strong>. With the addition of volleyball in 2007, S&T fields eight men’s and seven women’svarsity teams.<strong>Missouri</strong> S&T student-athletes have shown success at the national level both on thefield and in the classroom.On the fieldS&T has had teams that have finished in the top 10 at the national level for 14 of thepast 16 seasons. S&T has won four NCAA national championships on an individual basisin swimming during the past seven seasons, with Zlatan Hamzic capturing the title inthe 200-yard breaststroke at the 2009 NCAA Division II Championships. S&T’s 200-yardfreestyle relay team won back-to-back Division II championships in 2001 and 2002, whilethe 400-yard freestyle relay team took home a national title in 2002. The Miner swimmingteam has finished among the top four in the nation in three of the past six years, headedby a runner-up finish at the 2008 national meet.<strong>Missouri</strong> S&T’s men’s track and field team swept the GLVC championships in 2009 andcombined with the women’s team to send eight individuals to national competition -- andall of them finished among the top eight to earn All-America honors.S&T’s men’s soccer, women’s basketball, baseball and volleyball teams have all qualifiedfor NCAA post-season play during the course of the last two athletic seasons, with themen’s soccer team reaching the championship game of the 2010 NCAA Midwest Regional.Since 1935, <strong>Missouri</strong> S&T athletic teams have won or shared 37 league titles in the conferencein which it was affiliated.LADY MINER BASKETBALL5
