• Busy Wait. If your modem gets a busy signal, <strong>Linux</strong><br />

waits this period of time before trying to dial the<br />

phone number again.<br />

• Modem Volume. The three modem volume settings<br />

correspond to: Off, Medium, and High. This applies<br />

only if your modem has a speaker.<br />

• Modem Commands. Click this to see the commands<br />

that <strong>Linux</strong> uses to test your modem. Do not modify<br />

this list unless you know what you are doing.<br />

• Query Modem. You used this command earlier in<br />

this chapter to test whether <strong>Linux</strong> can communicate<br />

with your installed modem.<br />

• Terminal. You can click this to bring up a blank<br />

screen where you can enter text commands to your<br />

modem. You can also use this terminal to watch<br />

what’s happening while KPPP is trying to connect.
