The Society was founded in 1987 with the following objectives:
● To serve and promote the scientifi c cause and to advance academic interest in the fi eld of plant genetic resources.
● To disseminate knowledge relating to various aspects on plant genetic resources.
● To provide a forum for organizing symposia/conferences with a view to develop close relationship among the scientists
engaged and interested in plant genetic resources activities.

Indian Journal of Plant Genetic Resources, the offi cial publication of the Society, is published thrice in a year. The
contribution to the journal, except for invited papers, is open to the members of the society only.
Membership to the society is open to all the individuals/institutions interested in various aspects of plant genetic
resources. The membership fee is as follows:
