Presumably released by the Cruver Company in conjunction with the FallClassic, this 2-1/8” National League Champions pocket mirror displays a team compositeon the obverse with cameos of Hall of Famers Clarke, Wagner, Willis and sixteenothers participants from the squad. With exception to the right border, which displaysage-induced foxing, the celluloid souvenir otherwise presents in (VG to EX)condition. Two reside in original individual containers that have been opened. Theseshow “Cork Center” stampings that date to either 1917 (Tenor) or 1920-1925(Heydler). Both of the opened balls have a “YMCA FRANCE” stamping just abovethe trademark. Identifiers like this were found during World War I, as baseballs werecommonly shipped to American Soldiers overseas.Opening Bid $250.00231. (14) Babe Ruth Type 1 PhotographsWith eager cameramen following his every move, Babe Ruth represented a photoopportunity in any setting. Resultantly, “the Babe” was the subject of countlessimages (published and otherwise). This lot of (14) Ruth likenesses includes (9) originalnews service photographs and (5) vintage prints, all depicting the Baltimore-borndeity at his fun-loving best. Ranging in size from 4x3 to 10-1/4 x 8-1/4”, these blackand-whiteor sepia-toned photos captured the Babe in both on- and off-field settings,though his round face and features are unmistakable in any case. Highlights include: a1930s snapshot of Ruth and an unknown companion with a full photo LOA fromPSA/DNA (cert/hologram #E56996), as well as original photos of Ruth at theYankees’ St. Petersburg spring training site (including a March, 1927 photo of Ruthplaying handball). Vintage news service stampings and original adhered paper captionsappear on the reverse of the original photos.
