New Mexico led thenation in the highest undervote rates. Also, certifiedresults showed a remarkably high number ofphantom votes. 432Bernalillo County, NMAccording to the Albuquerque Tribune, local officialsdiscovered that about 12,000 early votes were notincluded in the totals produced by the voting systemafter Election Day. Apparently, the software programused to aggregate vote totals was “overwhelmed bythe data.” Reportedly, the error was confined to earlyvoting machines, on which approximately 48,000people cast their ballots.The Tribune reported that the same problem hadoccurred a few weeks earlier in Clark County,Nevada.
