ONTARIO COLLEGE OF TEACHERS SPECIAL STUDENTSTeachers seeking Ontario teaching certification who have beendirected by the Ontario College of Teachers to take professionalcourses at a faculty of education may apply for admission as“Special Students”. Special Students are required to register inperson at an Orientation Session (see below).ORIENTATION SESSIONSBefore enrolling in an AQ course, Special Student applicants mustattend an Orientation Session at OISE/UT. Information relating tocourse offerings, application procedures and an explanation of theletter issued to the applicant by the Ontario College of Teacherswill be provided during these sessions.Orientation Sessions for the 2006 Summer Session will be heldduring April and May 2006. For the 2006-2007 Fall/WinterSession, these will be held in August 2006. Specific dates andtimes of the Special Student Orientation Sessions will be posted onour Web site at: http://www.oise.utoronto.ca/aq/registration/special_students.html or will be available from the AdditionalQualification Unit, OISE/UT Registrar’s Office or by calling416-926-4762 or 1-800-443-7612.Applications for a required course will be evaluated at theOrientation Session. Applicants must provide the followingdocumentation at the time of the Orientation Session:1. Official transcripts of all your university work.■ Each transcript must be received in a sealed envelope,signed/stamped by the issuing institution. Some institutionswill not provide you with transcripts in sealed envelopes. Inthis case, official transcripts should be sent directly fromthe issuing institution to the OISE/UT Registrar's Office,Additional Qualification Unit prior to the OrientationSession.■ Official English language translations must accompany alldocumentation not written in English. An official translationis one received in the OISE/UT Registrar's Office in a sealed,signed/stamped envelope directly from an accreditedTranslation Service. To obtain the name of an accreditedtranslator, contact the Association of Translators andInterpreters of Ontario (ATIO) at 1-800-234-5030 or1-613-241-2846 or e-mail info@atio.on.ca■ Transcripts received in unsealed envelopes are notconsidered official, nor are faxed copies of transcripts.Photocopies of original documents are not acceptable unlessaccompanied by the original for our verification. If youruniversity does not issue transcripts, the original degreediploma, supporting documents and official Englishtranslations, where applicable, must be presented withphotocopies which we will retain after authentication byOISE/UT Registrar's Office staff.2. A photocopy of your marriage certificate or other proof of anychange of name (if applicable).3. A photocopy of your proof of citizenship/permanentresidency/landed immigrant status in Canada.4. A photocopy of the letter from the Ontario College ofTeachers designating the individual as a special student. If theletter is in French, a English translation will be required.5. Satisfactory evidence of an acceptable level of proficiency inboth written and oral English.
