HONOUR SPECIALIST■ HONOUR SPECIALIST ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONSCourse offerings subject to change. Please check our Web site.Prerequisite:1. A photocopy of your current Ontario College of Teachers' Certificate of Qualification showing qualifications in one of: the PrimaryDivision, the Junior Division, the Intermediate Division or the Senior Division in general studies.2. Official university transcript(s) showing proof an acceptable academic university degree conferred by an accredited institution,acceptable to the University of Toronto and the Ontario College of Teachers, with a minimum of 20 full university degree creditcourses or the equivalent. Courses required for teaching certification or additional teaching qualifications cannot be used for thisrequirement.3. Official university transcript(s) showing one of the following:a. For a single Honour Specialist, proof of successful completion of 9 full university degree credit courses or the equivalent in thesubject in which the Honour Specialist qualification is being sought with an overall average of at least a “B” or “70%”.ORb. For a combined Honour Specialist, proof of successful completion of 14 full university degree credit courses or the equivalent inthe 2 subjects in which the combined Honour Specialist qualification is being sought, including no fewer than 6 full universitydegree credit courses or the equivalent in each subject. The 14 full courses must, together, have an overall average of at least a“B” or "70%". Both of the Honour Specialist courses in the combination must be successfully completed before the qualification willbe recommended to the Ontario College of Teachers to be added to the Certificate of Qualification.ORc. For two separate single Honour Specialist qualifications in two subjects, of the 20 full university degree credit courses or theequivalent, applicants must have 9 full university degree credit courses in each of the two subjects in which the Honour SpecialistQualifications are being sought. Each set of 9 full university degree credit courses must have an overall average of at least a “B” or“70%”. Courses, which have been previously used for admission to an Honour Specialist course, cannot be used for admission toany other Honour Specialist course.4. Evidence of at least two (2) years of successful teaching experience, including one (1) year of experience in Ontario in the subject inwhich the qualification is being sought. This experience must be certified by the appropriate Supervisory Officer on the OISE/UTCertification of Teaching Experience Form available in this calendar or at http://www.oise.utoronto.ca/aqNOTE:For a combined Honour Specialist, proof of teaching experience is required in only one of the areas and the Honour Specialistcourse in that subject must be completed first.Applicants who have applied for a single Honour Specialist but who do not meet the prerequisites may also be considered for a combinedHonour Specialist.
