<strong>Red</strong> <strong>River</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>Students</strong>’ Association 2009-10Violent or Criminal Behaviour• Initiate immediate contact to CampusSecurity 632-2323 to ensure that atimely response has begun before asituation becomes uncontrollable.• Leave the immediate area wheneverpossible and direct others to do so.• Should gunfire or an explosives hazardoccur on campus, you should take coverimmediately using all available concealments.Close and lock doors whenpossible to separate yourself and othersfrom the armed suspect.Active Shooter SituationIf you are involved, in a situation where someonehas entered the area, and started shootingthe following is a list of actions that arerecommended.• Exit the building immediately• Notify anyone you may encounter toexit the building immediately• Leave Campus grounds by mostdirect/safe route• Notify Security Services at 632-2323• Give the Security Officer thefollowing information:> Your name> Location of the incident(be a specific as possible)> Number of shooters (if known)> Identification of shooter (if known)> Number of persons who maybe involved> Your locationDayplannerChemical/Biological SpillEnsure personal safety and accessthe situation:• Identify the type and amount of spilled/released material.• Shut off any services, if safe to do so,that might cause ignition.• Contain spill and block sewers ifsafe to do so.• If the spill imposes immediate danger tolife or health, pull fire alarm to evacuatethe building and follow steps 2 to 5.• Evacuate and close the area where thespill has occurred, consider activatingthe building fire alarm if required.This also summons the fire department.• Inform the person in charge of the area.• Inform Security at 632-2323 andPowerhouse at 632-2384 of theexact location of the spill.• Keep people out of contaminated areas.Use a large, cautious buffer zone.• Wait for response personnel to provideinformation regarding the spill.• Spill cleanup will progress differentlydepending upon the nature of the spill.> Winnipeg Fire Services provideinitial hazardous material responseto ensure life safety.> Hazardous material contractors orin-house personnel provide cleanupand monitoring at the <strong>College</strong>’sexpense to ensure a safe and healthenvironment prior to re-occupancy.92
